Community Committees

Architectural Controls Committee

Reviews all requests for changes to paint, roofing, architecture, and hardscapes.

We strive to keep our neighborhood beautiful by notifying homeowners who may have let some basic home and yard maintenance requirements languish. We do this on behalf of everyone who works hard and spends money to maintain their homes’ appearance and conform to the King Valley by laws.

Christmas Committee

Responsible for the planning and organization of the Annual Christmas Party with Santa.

The event is held in the afternoon on the first Saturday of December. We ask residents to bring a new (unwrapped) toy for the Toys for Tots toy drive, and have sweet treats and drinks available for all. Families reserve a 3 minute time slot. Homeowners interested in joining this committee should expect to attend up to two meetings prior to the event and will be required to attend and participate in set-up and clean-up duties. Joining this committee will not only increase the likelihood of meeting new friends and neighbors, but it will also promote your support and dedication to bettering King Valley!

Communications Committee

Keeps King Valley residents up-to-date with the current happenings in the neighborhood.

We are in need of content creators and writers to help establish periodic newsletters to be sent which will include important information from the board, upcoming event information, as well as general information regarding the subdivision.

Fourth of July Committee

Responsible for the planning and organization of the Annual Fourth of July Party.

The event is usually held on the Saturday before July 4th. Water bounce houses are set up in the pool parking lot for the children to use with adult supervision throughout the event. A BBQ and Chick-Fil-A lunch is available in the clubhouse for attendants. Those who chose to eat are charged a nominal fee to help defray catering costs. Invitations and RSVP forms are sent out through the neighborhood email list and facebook three to four weeks before the event. RSVPs must be returned roughly five days prior to the party so that catering can be finalized.

Halloween Committee

Responsible for the planning and organization of the Annual Halloween Party and Costume Contest.

The event is held on Halloween Day and is the most attended party King Valley hosts each year. Traditionally, pizza is brought in, three inflatables are rented, and some yard games are set up.. Dinner and activities take place from 4–6pm, the costume contests are followed by trick or treating. A “resident” and “non-resident” fee is collected to cover food costs and the HOA assumes the remaining expenses.

Possible committee members and volunteers are strongly encouraged to participate in this event as there are many tasks to be completed in preparation.

Hanukkah Party Committee (Todd Slutsky)

Responsible for the planning and organization of the Annual Hanukkah Party.

This event will be held on a weekend in December. You and your family are invited to join in our neighborhood celebration of Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. We will light menorahs, spin dreidels, read some Chanukah books and enjoy a mix of traditional Chanukah foods and other assorted treats. Every family who comes is invited to bring a dish to share potluck style. Every family in King Valley is invited to join in the activities. If you own a menorah, you are encouraged to bring it.

Landscape Committee

Responsible for periodic common area landscape inspections and proposing and/or reviewing potential landscape improvements, changes, and maintenance issues, for presentation to and consideration by the Board.

Maintenance Committee

Handy people that can assist with minor maintenance projects around the clubhouse and common areas periodically. This may include things like changing light bulbs in the clubhouse, tightening loose pool furniture, minor repairs in bathroom like valves or faucets, etc.

Pool Committee

General support including monitoring pool chemical levels and maintenance requirements, supplier coordination/oversight and periodic clean-up and weekly trash management. Make sure umbrellas are closed, grills covered, put loose toys in lost and found.

Summer Socials Committee

Plan neighborhood movie nights, pool socials, brewery nights, food/ice cream trucks.

Tennis Committee

Responsible for maintaining the tennis courts and shelter area, including replacing and repairing equipment, as needed; serve as liaison between neighbors and Board for tennis activities, programs, and teams.

Welcome Wagon Committee

When informed of a new closing in the neighborhood, the committee will stop by with a basket full of goodies and some homemade treats.

The basket includes lots of information specific to both King Valley and Smyrna. We have polled neighbors and compiled a list of smyrna “favorites” including restaurants, attractions, churches and other local “hot spots.” It will also include neighborhood “must-haves” including pool/tennis info, important contact information and information about annual events. There will also be some snacks and a mini bottle of wine so new neighbors can unwind after a hard day of moving and unpacking!
